Inbetweeners Local Rules
Rules - Rules Guide 01 October 2024 Local Rules; These apply to Inbetweeners Golf Club competitions only, they may not be the local rules of the course.
Men playing off the forward tee (red tee) -
As we now play under the WHS (world handicap system) we should also adopt their suggestions regarding forward tees. Whilst they do say that if your club allows it, you can play off any tee regardless of age, your club may adopt an age limit as playing off forward tees is a local rule.
Therefore, the Inbetweeners Golf Club states that any male senior player (70+) may play from the forward tee, provided they inform the HCP secretary at least two weeks prior to the first game of the 2025 season and changing to the forward tee will also mean a 7-point deduction in hcp
Local Rule – Preferred Lies – (This is a commonplace rule throughout Spain)
When any part of a player’s ball touches part of the general area cut to fairway height or less, the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:
Tree Roots –
Local Rule – Tree Roots
Relief from Tree Roots in General Play
Purpose. In the unusual situation where exposed tree roots are found in the general play area within the boundaries of the course, it may be unfair to prohibit the player from taking relief from the roots.
The Club has chosen to treat such tree roots as ground under repair from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1b. The Club has chosen to limit free relief to interference with the lie of the ball and the area of intended swing, but NOT with the player’s stance.
Ball Lost or Out of Bounds –
When Ball Is Lost or Out of Bounds
(1) When Ball Is Lost. A ball is lost if not found in three minutes after the player begins to search for it.If a ball is found in that time but it is uncertain whether it is the player’s ball:The player must promptly attempt to identify the ball (see Rule 7.2) and is allowed a reasonable time to do so, even if that happens after the three-minute search time has ended. This includes a reasonable time to get to the ball if the player is not where the ball is found.
If the player does not identify their ball in that reasonable time, the ball is lost
.(2) When Ball Is Out of Bounds. A ball at rest is out of bounds only when all of it is outside the boundary edge of the course.A ball is in bounds when any part of the ball:Lies on or touches the ground or anything else (such as any natural or artificial object) inside the boundary edge, or Is above the boundary edge or any other part of the course.
A player may stand out of bounds to play a ball on the course.
Poorly Raked Bunkers
Any ball landing in a poorly raked bunker may be placed at the nearest raked point within the bunker and must be no nearer the hole.
